A smile and compliment goes a loooooong way!

Oh why Oh why do blood tests and IV lines exist!? (Don’t answer that question I know the answer perfectly well…  🙂 )

People hate getting their blood test taken or having to have an IV line put in or any procedure that includes getting cut up, injected, opened up etc. Over the years, iv learnt a not so unique way of dealing with the over tired, over stretched and under paid nurses who unfortunately has me as the last patient before she goes home to sleep….arrrghhh…trust me I know the look. Bruised up would be the end result of being the last patient…(and sometimes im not the last patient but I still get the same ending)..but I really do feel for the nurses they don’t mean to be so hard. Thus, as soon as they enter the cubicle, I say hello with a smile, sometimes I get a response and sometimes im ignored..(ha ha!) but nonetheless, I continue, I will find something really nice about the nurse and compliment them.

Wether its their hair, perfume, shoes, name badge, hair clip, cool wrist band, the ward, sometimes we talk about their career and how long there in it…(subhanallah I have found that most wanted to be something other than a nurse)…anything anything….its has to be true though and your intentions should be to make them happy and as a result she will go all easy with putting that needle or IV line in. Allah is my witness, it works EVERY TIME! Even with die hard stubborn nurses. Alhamdulillah! There you have it, smile and compliment goes a long way.

Phew…no more bruises.

Hold your tongue…

Subhanallah we are very much blessed with different weathers in the UK. You could easily wake up with the sun shining in your eyes, and by the time you have had breakfast and wanting to leave home, its pouring down with rain. Or even worse, snow! But is it really right to talk trash about the weather of which we or the country itself has no control over. Is it not a scary thought that whilst we are cursing away about the rain or the mucky humid condition or the freezing cold, we are in reality cursing Allah The Almighty The All Wise?! Isn’t that a scary thought?….

Subhanallah cursing the weather is part of our normal day to day conversation….you meet a friend and you salam them ask them about how they are feeling..and then boom the talk  quickly changes to either a gloomy weather forecast or a very nice bit of sunshine!

Lets guard our tongues with matters of the unseen, and really and truly it’s a complete blessing that we live in a small part of the world where we get to experience different types of temperatures…and of course abundant rain. Some countries could only dream of such rain.

May Allah help us see the beauty of His creation and may we all give thanks to the little things in life that make the biggest difference. Ameen!

What are the White Days – Ayyam al Beed?

These are the 13th, 14th and 15th day of each lunar month

Whilst we must not forget that there are countless virtues and immense rewards for the act of fasting itself, some of the virtues of fasting on these days include:

  • Jarir ibn ‘Abdullah radhiyallahu ‘anh narrated that the Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam said: “Fasting three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime, and ayaam al-beed are the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.” (Narrated al-Nasaa’i)
  • It was narrated that Abu Dharr radhiyallahu ‘anh said, the Messenger of Allaah sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam said to me: “If you fast any part of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (761); al-Nasaa’i (2424).
  • It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas radhiyallahu ‘anh said: The Messenger of Allaah sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam said to me: “It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month, because for every good deed you will have (the reward of) ten like it, so that will be like fasting for a lifetime.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1874); Muslim (1159)

Be like Gold…

A lady was once talking with a youngster who explained about how difficult it can be at times for one to maintain their character and behaviour, amidst the many kinds of evil they are surrounded with, “Be like gold…!” she said, “…gold is beautiful and shinny wherever it is found…be it behind the protective and secure windows of the jeweler or mixed within the rubble on the dirty ground!”

Let your character shine like the brilliance of gold regardless of the environment you are in. Be steadfast in your willingness to doing good even if those around you are doing otherwise…and be conscious of Allah!

Your Adhan

Insha’Allah all is well,

We came across this quote and wanted to share with all of our readers.

When you were born, the adhan was called in your ear but with no prayer.

When you die, they will perform a prayer (salatul janazah) but with no adhan.

It is as if the adhan of your birth belongs to the prayer of your death. SubhanAllah!

That’s how short your life in this world is.

Thus dear readers, we need to take strong steps to prepare for the hereafter, and should act quickly to accumulate good deeds to earn the pleasure of Allah (subhanallah wa ta’ala).

Ten Useless Matters

بسم الله و الصلاة  السلام على رسول الله

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

There are many things that we do in our lives that had we pondered  a little about and reflected upon, we would realise that it is not only a useless and time-wasting matter but in terms of our Akhirah we are losing a lot. Our investment in the Akhirah is the most important one as it is our final abode and we would want to have the best of results bi idhni llah! Therefore, we must take care in doing what pleases Allah and avoid that which is useless and does not help in bringing one closer to Allah.

Below are the 10 useless matter that we can all take benefit  from(insha’Allah):

  1. Knowledge that is not acted upon.
  2. A deed or action that has neither sincerity in it or done in the way of the Prophet (salla llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and how he taught us.
  3. Money that is hoarded – you neither enjoy during this life nor get any reward for it in the next life.
  4. Having a heart that is empty of love and longing of Allah and seeking its closeness to Allah.
  5. Having a body that does not obey and serve Allah.
  6. Loving Allah without following His orders or loving Allah without seeking His pleasure.
  7. Having time that is not spent in seeking forgiveness for your sins or taking advantage in doing good deeds.
  8. Having a mind that thinks about useless matters.
  9. Serving those who do not bring you closer to Allah and do not benefit you in your life.
  10. Hoping and fearing whoever is under the authority of Allah while he cannot bring any benefit or harm to you.

May Allah give us the tawfeeq to abstain from that which is futile, useless and deprived of Allah’s pleasure and guide us to that which will bring us happiness on the Day we meet Lord!

How To Master Taqwa

بسم الله و الصلاة  السلام على رسول الله

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

taqwaAl-Ahnaf Ibn Qays was asked, “How did you master Taqwa?” He said:

1. I knew my provision, no one but me takes it so my heart felt at ease;

2. I realise my deeds, no one can perform them but me, so I occupied myself and my time with my deeds;

3. I realise that Allah is always watchful over me, so I was ashamed to let Him see me committing a sin;

4. I realise that death is awaiting for me so I gathered the provision for that Journey.

A man told him, “So where do you eat from AlAhnaf?”

So he mentioned the Ayah …وَلِلَّهِ خَزَائِنُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ (Munafiqoon: 7) and said “Do you think Allah would provide a kafir sustenance and leave me out of it?”

May Allah grant us all the tawfeeq to master our Taqwa, Ameen.
